The evening began with a hearing on the budget transfers which is needed at the end of budget year. Finance director Tracy Boner explained the transfers to the board, and there were no further comments.

The board, convening as the Recreation Board, approved the liability insurance request. 

The regular meeting began at 7:30 with the approval of agendas, minutes, and financial reports. 

The policy committee is recommending not moving forward with the activities policy at this time, but instead considering those guidelines as part possible resource allocation guidelines. The committee did however, recommend moving forward with the sick bank/maternity leave policies and the Unpaid Meal Charge Policy. The sick bank/maternity leave policies will have revised wording for second reading to reflect the IBN committee recommendation.

Each school principal reviewed changes in student handbooks, but there were no substantive changes. Transportation director John Bartling recommended no changes to the Transportation Handbook. 

The district insurance was renewed, a call for bids on used equipment was approved, and all personnel recommendations were approved as presented. The board also approved an additional 1.75% retention incentive for all employees who will be returning next year. This incentive comes from funds which are unable to be carried over into the next budget year.

The next Board Policy Meeting is scheduled for July 5 at 5:15 p.m. at the Central Administration Building. The next regular board meeting will be on July 11 which will include the budget hearing.
